Now is the time to act to stop the weddington road rezone Charlotte NC

It is time to act.

Contact your city council members.

Contact people on the Weddington Road rezone committee.

Let them know how many people are against the rezoning

Please keep emotions out of it and be fair and civil with everyone involved.

There is a group that I have no connection to but is working diligently to get the facts across to the proper people to let them know the rezone petition should be denied.

Here is their link to all the information you will need to contact the officials involved:

Don't leave it up to someone else to do this.  We need everyone to act.  Our neighborhoods are in jeopardy.  Act today, tomorrow will be too late.

STOP the Weddington Road Rezone. Charlotte NC

Yes, neighbors are upset over the Weddington Road rezone proposal.   No matter what the powers that be want to label it, this is simply an apartment complex in the middle of single family homes.  Forty foot tall buildings and a parking lot backing up to peaceful single family home back yards.  The project simply does not belong there.   The problem is that your city council members would even consider it.   I suggest you call or email your city council members now to let them know this kind off thing should never happen, or your neighborhood could be next.

The group that wants to build it explains it as "workforce housing" and they claim there is a need for it in the area.  They say teachers and policemen will live there and they need the housing.  Oddly enough, there are already teachers and policemen living in the surrounding communities.  They do not want to live in this project, nor do they want it near their neighborhood.  They worked hard to earn enough money to buy their homes in a quiet single family home area.   They don't want a 40 ft tall apartment complex plopped down in their back yard any more than anyone else.   Don't let the city council make the wrong decision, email or call them now and after the November 5th election.

There are already places to rent in the area for the same rates quoted for the project they want to build.  This single fact alone negates the need for the project.  They say it was zoned for a day care and now their project is a better fit.  The truth is no one ever knew about the day care zoning and that should not have happened either.  This property had a single family home on it, then quietly it got rezoned for daycare.   The only thing  that belongs on this little lot is single family homes.  Zoning is supposed to protect neighborhoods, not sell them out to the highest bidder.

There seems to be a fine group of community minded citizens out there that is doing a very good job at putting all the facts together on this.  Here is the link Weddington Road Rezone.

This is a subject we all feel strogly about but please remember to be calm, cool and thoughful when communicating your feeling to elected officials.   They are public servants doing a job for all of us here in Charlotte.  Please remind them of the facts and remember aggresive language and comments will not help.  Talk to your Charlotte NC city council candidates and current city council members.   Remind them zoning is meant to protect neighborhoods.
